Posh

General Luxurious, expensive and of high quality.

Origin
There is no agreement concerning the origin of this word.

A popular theory holds that it derives from the initials of "Port Out, Starboard Home", the most expensive side of ships traveling between India and Britain in the 1950's. It is said that the acronym "POSH" was stamped on the tickets of first-class passengers.

Another theory is that today's meaning comes from the fact that "posh" was a slang word in 19th-century Britain that meant "money", more specifically "halfpenny".

Example
This adjective can also refer to a person or their voices. For example, Victoria Beckham, ex Spice Girl, is widely known as "Posh Spice" or just "Posh" due to her refined attitude, her liking for expensive designer dresses and her love of high-heeled shoes.
